6-word project

I'm still working on my 6-word contribution, but just had to take a selfie with the results so far, following this recent message from STScI director Ken Sembach:

I recently heard an interview where a corporate executive was asked to describe in only a few words what his company does. This can be difficult to do on the spot, and in this case the CEO didn’t provide a memorable description. Unfortunately, he missed a golden opportunity to accentuate some of the interesting points he had been making about the company during the interview. I started thinking about the amazing work we do here at STScI, how we are different than other organizations, and what we should aspire to be. This chance encounter on the radio led me to recall The Race Card Project, which asks people to distill their thoughts, experiences, or observations about race into one sentence that has 6 words. This project earned a Peabody Award in 2013 and “tackles issues of race, identity, sexuality, and aging”. It shows that six well chosen words can convey powerful messages that are memorable and thought provoking. National Public Radio partnered with the Race Card Project last year and has short backstories of some of its contributors if you’d like to know more about how some of those 6-word stories originated. In the next few days you will see large chalkboards appearing at various locations across the Institute asking you to describe what you (or we) do here at STScI in 6 words or less. I challenge all of you to share your thoughts by creating 6-word sentences that convey important messages about your (our) work. If you can do so in less than 6 words, go for it. Each of you has a story to tell. Be serious, be creative, be yourself. Most of all - be concise - you only have 6 words!
